Men in Black
A mysterious phenomena associated with sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Some individuals who claim to have seen UFOs, or to have been abducted or in some other way involved with extraterrestrial beings, also claim to have been visited later by Men in Black (MIB) — men dressed in dark clothes — who discourage the individuals from publicizing their experiences.
In popular culture and in UFO conspiracy theories, MIB are men or aliens themselves dressed in black suits who claim to be government agents who hound or menace UFO witnesses to keep them quiet about what they have experienced and/or seen.
According to UFO enthusiasts, one of the earliest cases of an MIB visit occurred in September 1953. Albert K. Bender, a factory clerk of Bridgeport Connecticut and UFO enthusiast, had figured out parts of the origin of flying saucers, and sent his theory off to a 'trusted friend'. Soon after, three men dressed in black appeared, with his letter in hand. They told him 'the real story', and he became ill. Bender, apparently to 'save mankind', kept the details to himself and gave up UFO research.
There have been various reports of MIB visits since, mostly in America, but also elsewhere including Europe, Australia and South Africa.
